How to disappear completely and never be found.

Last twenty minutes of the season are left, and I'm trying to positive here, I'm trying desperately to be OK with this, at the least.

I tried changing my whole stance on the Pronger thing, I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt and took the view that he did what was best for his family and he actually made a courageous decision and all in requesting a trade. I tried, but it's far too easy to just have an enemy to hate, I can't do it.

So I'm trying to be positive and look at guys like Selanne and Marchant and be happy for them, I can do that, maybe even moreso than for any of the Senators.

And I'm trying to be thankful that the "Mighty" part has been removed from the Ducks name. I honestly have no idea what I'd do if that were still the case. The combination of that name going on the Cup along with Pronger's might be enough to put me off the league for a year or two.

I need some of that memory-erasing surgery from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This season did not just happen, I refuse to recognize its existence. Being a sports fan is far too much pain, and very little gain.

At the very least..... at least it's not the Flames or Leafs.

no, at the very least... it's over, and it will not come again. that's the good thing about being a sports fan, you always get a do-over. another chance, whether you want it or not.

i know, it's not at all comforting. but until the brain-clearing technology develops, it's the best we've got.

It's over, but it will always be there. Just like I'll have to endure replays of Carolina celebrating with the Cup for at least the next decade (and probably longer, though hopefully the pain will have faded by then.... maybe even enough for me to watch without averting my eyes), I'll have to put up with pictures of Pronger with the Cup for at least the rest of his career.

The downside to the internet is that you can't really get away from this stuff. I used to joke with my friend that if it ever looked like the Leafs were gonna win the Cup, we'd leave the country for a few months. I can tell you now, it makes it a bit easier, but it's still too hard to ignore.

I just need to be more mature about this, right?

yes, it will always be there, but look on the bright side: when the oilers do get good again, you can tell your grandchildren all the stories about how you stayed faithful to your team through the great horrors of two-thousand-ought-seven.

You've got a great blog and I enjoy reading it regularly. I've got a hockey site & i've been trying to promote it lately.

Would you consider doing a review, article, or post a link to it for your readers?

The site is www.hockEdeals.com and is all for helping hockey players shop for hockey equipment by telling them the best prices. I don't sell equipment so i'm trying to save fellow hockey players money.

Please consider helping me promote my site but keep up the great work with your blog!

Thanks for everything!

I've been to Taiwan about 10 years ago while backpacking around Asia. Wonderful place with really nice, friendly and helpful people. My favorite place was that incredible museum with all the treasures saved from China's dark years. Would take 10 years to display everything at least once in that humongous place, right?

It's cool to know there's an Oiler fan there! Your sentiments are mine as well. It's now August, and yet when I see a picture of Pronger with his family with the cup in California pop up unexpectedly while checking a site, I instantly taste bile in my mouth. Need more time I guess.

Jeez, it's been a while since I've checked this.

I know I'm getting spammed when someone says they enjoy "regularly" reading a blog that goes unuptated for months at a time.

E: They'd damn well better be good again long before I have grandchildren.

RoliLover : Yeah, the National Palace Museum... apparently China is pretty pissed that Taiwan has all this cultural heritage of theirs stored away in caves. I need to visit that place one of these weekends I'm there for hockey.
And there's a suprising number of Oilers fans here, I've made more than a couple friendships here through Oilfandom.
